LA LIGA: HAZARD MISSES MADRID TRAINING

Eden Hazard was one of the absentees from the Real Madrid training ahead of their league clash at home to Athletic Bilbao. The Belgian international was one of the four players that missed the last training session before Real Madrid take on Athletic Bilbao at home in a rescheduled game in the Spanish La Liga. Eden Hazard has not played for Real Madrid since the 2-1 loss at home to Alaves in the league at the end of last month. The former Lille and Chelsea playmaker sustained a leg injury and he had to leave the game after just 28 minutes. It was then revealed that the player would be out of action for three weeks.

Apart from Eden Hazard, the attacking trio of Martin Odegaard, Mariano Diaz and Luka Jovic also missed the final training session on Monday and are all expected to miss the Bilbao clash. The absence of Serbian international Jovic and Mariano Diaz would have been felt by Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane who might have thought about resting star striker Karim Benzema for the Athletic Bilbao match on Tuesday night if Mariano Diaz or Luka Jovic was available for the game.

Real Madrid signed Eden Hazard last summer for £88m but the player has not been able to produce his best form for the La Liga club due toseveral injuries. The latest injury setback is the eighth injury suffered by the Belgian international since his transfer from Chelsea to Real Madrid at the start of last season. Real Madrid have coped well without Hazard in the last two weeks following the wins over Borussia Moenchengladbach (in the Champions League), Sevilla and Atletico Madrid (in the La Liga). After the shocking defeat to Alaves at home, Real Madrid have beaten Sevilla and Atletico Madrid and they can make it three straight wins via another league victory over Bilbao. A win will take them to joint top on the league table.
